The CALM Framework Class

I didn’t learn this in university… But it changed everything.

When I was 13, I spent my afternoons volunteering at a center for children with cerebral palsy. I remember looking at my mom one evening and telling her with all the certainty in my young heart:

“When I grow up, I’m going to be a physical therapist… so I can help children with cerebral palsy.”

That moment shaped everything.
And now, decades later, here I am—still guided by the same purpose, but walking a very different path than I ever imagined.

A Career Built on Determination (and a Lot of Stretching)

I started my career working in early intervention with high-risk infants and premature babies. Every day I learned more about how the nervous system develops—and how much potential there is, especially in those early months and years.

In 1999, I joined the first Latin-American 3D Gait Laboratory in Venezuela. I spent years analyzing pathological gait patterns, mostly in children with cerebral palsy. I was part of surgical decision teams, helping to guide which procedures a child might need. I even handled their post-surgical rehabilitation, often in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and therapists.

In 2002, I became certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT/Bobath) and worked under that framework for eight years—teaming up with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, pediatric psychologists, and special education teachers. I learned so much. I tried everything I was taught.

I used electrostimulation. I stretched. I activated. I braced.
I believed in what I was doing—and I did it all with love.

But over time… I started to feel something I couldn’t ignore.

What Happens When You Do “Everything Right”… And It’s Still Not Enough?

I began to notice that despite all the effort—despite applying every method, every tool, every ounce of my training—many children just didn’t improve the way we hoped they would.

And worse… parents were starting to feel like maybe they were failing, too.

"Maybe I’m not doing enough."
"Maybe my child has plateaued."
"Maybe we’ll never see more progress."

And quietly, in the back of my mind, I started wondering the same.

“What if there’s more to the body than we were taught?”
“What if I’m missing something big?”

Moving Out of My Comfort Zone… A New Lens

The story is long and not too relevant here, but I ended up moving to Canada and joining the ABR Americas team in 2010. ABR's approach focused not on muscles, but on connective tissue—specifically fascia. At first, this felt radical. But as I began understanding this intricate web of sensing, adapting tissue that connects everything in the body, I knew I'd found something important.

I studied under Leonid Blyum, ABR's founder, whose unconventional approach and deep insights into fascia completely transformed my understanding of the human body. He became a mentor I continue to hold in deep respect.

Mariana Barreto - Daiana Baskovich - Lionid Blyum

During this time, I met Daiana Baskovich. We clicked immediately, both captivated by what we were learning—not just about fascia, but about the profound intelligence of the human body. Together, we travelled across South and North America, training parents and deepening our studies in fascia and osteopathy. Today, Daiana continues sharing this work with Spanish-speaking WeFlow families.

ABR was my first real introduction to fascia. And even though it challenged everything I had been taught, something in me knew: this was important.

So I went deeper.
I became a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner. I studied Craniosacral Therapy. I immersed myself in the biotensegrity and fascia model—a revolutionary understanding of how the body is built and behaves. I trained directly with pioneers. I followed every piece of research I could get my hands on.

And what I found changed not only how I worked—but who I became.

From Therapist to Guide

I stopped trying to “fix” children’s bodies with force.
Instead, I started listening. Supporting. Trusting.
I stopped assuming that therapy had to be hard, clinical, or exhausting.
Instead, I watched as gentle therapy for CP created surprising shifts.

And then came the biggest change of all:
I realized that the most powerful therapy doesn’t happen in a clinic.
It happens at home. With the people who love the child most.

WeFlow Fascia Therapy

That’s when I founded WeFlow Fascia Therapy—in 2017, with a dream to make fascia therapy for cerebral palsy simple, gentle, and accessible to families around the world.

WeFlow Was Built for Parents Like You

You’re not just your child’s parent. You are their strongest advocate, their safe place, their fiercest believer. And you deserve more than vague advice or exhausting routines.

You deserve a guide who will walk beside you with empathy, clarity, and evidence-based tools.

At WeFlow, we help parents:

  • Understand fascia in a simple, empowering way

  • Learn gentle movements they can do at home—even while their child sleeps

  • Support their child’s natural ability to find balance and flow

  • Feel hopeful and confident, even if the path has been hard

You don’t have to be a therapist.
You don’t have to do it all.
You just need to know that your hands are enough—and we’ll show you how.

From Confusion to Clarity

Many professionals still don’t understand fascia therapy—and that’s okay. I didn’t at first either. It’s not that they don’t care; it’s that they were trained in a different paradigm.

When I studied at university, fascia wasn’t even part of the conversation. Now, we know that fascia is a living, dynamic system that holds the key to balance, movement, and coordination.

The biotensegrity and fascia model shows us how the body holds tension and adapts globally—not in isolated muscles, but as one intelligent whole.

Learning to see the body this way changed everything for me.
And today, I’m part of a growing international community of therapists helping others do the same.

WeFlow Parents

But the Real Experts? Parents Like You

For the last 15 years, I’ve taught fascia therapy to parents.
And I can say this with complete certainty:

Parents, guided by fascia principles and biotensegrity, are the best therapists for their children.

Why? Because you are present. You notice the smallest shifts. You love without conditions.
And when you’re given the right tools, you create transformation in the most powerful way.

This is the heart of the WeFlow Fascia Therapy approach.

You’re Not Alone. You’re More Than Enough.

If you’re here reading this, I want you to know:

You don’t have to do more.
You just need to do differently.
And you don’t have to do it alone.

WeFlow Fascia Therapy is here to guide you—with compassion, clarity, and hope.

This journey isn’t always easy. But it can be lighter, more connected, and more empowering.
And the transformation you’re dreaming of?
It might start with something as small as the warmth of your hand on your child’s belly… while they rest.

That’s the power of fascia.
That’s the heart of WeFlow.

With all my heart,
Mariana
