Post 68: "Not Only Her": How Fascia Therapy Brought Calm to a Mom and Her Daughter

September 29, 2026•5 min read

"I don't know how to explain it," she told me. "But I really felt I was doing the right thing. I felt it under my hands."

This mom had started working with her daughter at home, and she didn't know what to expect. Touch had never been easy for her little girl. Hands-on care often met a quick uh-uh and a body that pulled away. Would her daughter let her? Would it make any difference at all?

Her daughter accepted it from the very beginning. And her mom felt something shifting, quietly, before anyone else could see it.

If you've ever had that feeling, you know how precious and how fragile it is. You want to trust it. You're also afraid to hope too much.

Then the signs started to come.

The Proof She Was Waiting For

After two or three months, her daughter went to the bathroom without laxatives for the first time in her life. She now goes every couple of days on her own. Her mom said that moment changed everything. It was the sign that told her, okay, we're on the right way.

Then came a day swimming in the lake. With her swim wings on, her daughter stayed on her own for the first time. Her mom could see it happening: her daughter was feeling her own trunk, organizing herself in a new way.

Her teacher noticed too. When she holds the little girl now, she feels how much more secure she is in her body — and that makes the teacher feel more secure as well.

And there was something else, maybe the most beautiful change of all. Her daughter became more present. She looks at people now. She reaches toward them. Out on the street, she watches the people passing by, smiles at them, and tries to touch them. She puts one, two, three words together — "Mama, eating" — to tell her mom what she wants.

Then one day, a phone call confirmed everything.

Her daughter's osteopath had worked with the family for two years, but because of distance, she hadn't seen the little girl in about five months. When she finally did, she stopped partway through the session. Something had changed. For the first time, she said, this child was completely relaxed under her hands.

On her walk home, she called the mom back. She couldn't stop thinking about it. The way she saw it, the little girl's sensory system finally seemed regulated.

What this mom had felt under her own hands for months, a professional could now feel too.

Calm, For Both Of Them

What struck me most in our conversation was how much this changed for her, too.

"It was something that was also relaxing me," she said. "Not only her."

Their time together became a place of calm instead of one more task. Little by little, she trusted herself more. She realized she didn't need to check in with me every week to know she was doing it right. The signs were right there in front of her.

And that calm could last because the work fit their life. This family's week is full. She only has afternoons. Her daughter goes to a riding program she loves, and the trip there and back takes hours. So we shaped her plan around their real life instead of asking their life to bend around therapy. She made her own adjustments too, like swapping screen time during their sessions for audiobooks, which felt better for both of them.

That's the part I want every parent to hear. This didn't happen because she did everything perfectly or found more hours in her day. It happened because she had a way of caring for her daughter's body that worked with her life.

Stories like this one are only possible when we understand the role fascia plays in the body — how it connects everything, from the abdomen area to the trunk to the way a child feels safe in her own skin. And when parents discover the power they have once they take the lead.

This is exactly what I cover in the CALM class. It's where I share why fascia is the missing link so many families never hear about, and how parents can become the guides their children need.

If you're ready to learn the hands-on work yourself, the Head-to-Toe Bootcamp is where I walk you through it step by step, with coaching support along the way. That way, you can start noticing your own child's signs — and trusting what you feel under your hands.
